The Problem:
Speaker drivers (Tweeters, Mids, Woofers) blown right out of the box: The sound is bad and YOU have to fix it.
You would hope that final QC at the factory would catch defective products, but some do get through, and now you have just joined the QC team… at your expense. If this is an installed speaker, you have to pull it back out, send back for a replacement, wait, and re-install.
Solution: Test the speakers before even putting them in the truck to the job site. Yes, that takes time, but less time than the other scenario. Test the speaker with pink noise, and listen for all the drivers to be working, or better yet, measure it with a very basic mic and test setup (available for smart phone for virtually free). Or chose manufacturers that do better QC and use drivers that are more bullet-proof. Yes it costs more, but your client should pay for that, not you.
Grimani Systems Solution:
Since we don’t believe that you should do our quality control for us, we do a lot of it in-house! We start by using “bullet-proof” drivers that have a stellar reputation in the professional and studio industry. We then test everyone as it comes in the door. Then we carefully tune each speaker in our anechoic test area, and to finish off, we do a thorough burn-in and listening test of all the components. These things are all hand-crafted by engineers that spent their entire careers in the music and film production industry. They know what to listen for, and they care! Now, we hope you don’t think we are taking your work away from you; yeah, the work you don’t get paid for…
