The Problem:
Uneven bass coverage: Some seats have more bass than other.
Bass waves fill a room and crash around the walls, ceiling and floor just like storm waves would in a harbor. At some points in the room they add up on each other causing a boomy and thick soundscape, and at other points they fight each other, resulting in no bass impact at all. The seat to seat variations can be stunning.
Solution: Use multiple subwoofers spread strategically in the room, and carefully tune them to launch coherent bass waves at all seats.
Grimani Systems Solution:
Since we believe in the democratic principles of even bass for all, we take a number of steps to make sure it is as good as it can be. First off, in our CinemaOne and CinemaTwo systems, we design the room for smoothest bass standing wave resonances. Then, we supply bass control acoustical modules to tame those pesky resonances. We continue by placing four subwoofers in strategic locations around the room in order to contradict the standing wave construct. And finally, we tune the subwoofers with high-precision processing in the frequency and time domains to smooth out the remaining peaks and dips. Once we are all done with our 5-step process, the bass is smooth, impactful, and consistent throughout the seating area.
